How to Play

Guess the hidden word. Each wrong letter adds to the gallows. Higher difficulty means fewer mistakes allowed.

Objective

Guess the hidden English word before running out of mistakes. Easy: 8, Medium: 6, Hard: 5, Expert: 4 wrong guesses. Correct letters appear in position; wrong guesses add to the hangman drawing.

Controls

• Keyboard: press letter keys directly to guess
• Mobile: tap the on-screen letter buttons
• Guessed letters turn gray and can't be reused
• Correct letters show green, wrong ones red
• Lightbulb button: 1 chance per game to reveal an unguessed letter and show a text hint
• Top bar shows current streak and best streak for the difficulty
• Settings: choose difficulty (easy/medium/hard/expert) and category

Tips & Strategy

• Start with common vowels (E, A, O, I, U)
• Then try common consonants (R, S, T, L, N)
• Mind the category hint — it narrows possible words
• Expert difficulty hides the category hint for extra challenge
• The letter-reveal hint is 1 per game — save it for crucial moments
• English letter frequency: E>T>A>O>I>N>S>H>R
